Gift Ideas – Baking Set

Baking Set

I used to attend a lot of craft fairs. At one craft fair I went to, I came across a lady who was selling alternative gift ideas. There is one idea that has stuck in my mind and I actually used it for my friends little girls Birthday present last year. This is a gift idea that will suit any budget. You can spend as little or as much as you like and is suitable for both girls and boys alike.

For the purpose of this blog, I am going to use the one that I made for my friends little girl. I started with a plastic mixing bowl which I bought from my local supermarket for about £1.50. I also bought a wooden spoon, a spatula and some measuring spoons. I then went to the bakery section and bought some cupcake cases and some icing decorations. I think I bought some chocolate balls, some sparkly bits and some silver balls. Like I said, you can buy as much or as little as you want. The lady at the craft fair was selling some child size aprons which she had made so I also bought one of those. These are really easy to make. You just have to find some material, cut it to size, hem the edges and then sew on some ribbon for the neck and to tie it around the side. Or they can be found online. I then bought a children’s cookery book for a few pounds in my local bookshop and I was finished. In total it cost me about £10 and she loved it!

It all fit nicely in the mixing bowl. I wrapped up each present individually and then wrapped it all in cellophane and tied with with ribbon.

With the one I did, I went for a cupcake theme. But you could do a similar thing with biscuits, swapping the cupcake cases for cutters. Or a gingerbread man theme. This is just one idea that can be adapted in so many different ways. My Mum recently did one for her niece which had a much higher budget and she included cutters and cupcake cases, as well as a cookery book and an apron. If your budget is much lower, you can print off a recipe onto a piece of card instead of buying a cookery book, and buy only one decoration pack.

I would love to know if any of you do take this idea and make something similar! Please let me know how you get on.
